Under 18’s Dental Treatments – Children’s Dentist in Mt Roskill, Auckland
A Healthy Smile for Your Child, From Our Family to Yours
At Dominion Dental Centre on Dominion Road, we believe that a healthy smile is a priceless asset for life.
We are proud to be part of the New Zealand Government’s oral health programme, which provides free dental care to all children and teen/teenagers under the age of 18.
We offer a friendly and comfortable environment where children feel safe and at ease.
Our compassionate team focuses on creating positive dental experiences, teaching good oral hygiene habits, and providing the expert care your child needs to achieve a beautiful, healthy smile for years to come.
What’s Included in Your Child’s Free Dental Care?
The free dental care scheme covers a wide range of essential treatments, ensuring your child receives the foundational care they need without any cost to you. This includes:
-
Routine Check-ups and Examinations: Regular check-ups are crucial for preventing problems before they arise.
-
Preventive Treatments: This includes fissure sealants to protect back teeth from decay and fluoride applications to strengthen enamel.
-
Teeth Cleaning: Professional teeth cleaning to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
-
Fillings: Treatments used to restore teeth affected by cavities.
-
Extractions: The removal of teeth that are too damaged to be saved.
-
X-rays: Diagnostic X-rays to check for issues beneath the gum line.
Please note that free dental care for under-18s generally does not cover specialist treatments, such as orthodontics (braces), cosmetic dentistry, or complex dental procedures. Your dentist will always discuss these options with you first if they are necessary.

Although Orthodontic Treatments are not covered, we can assess and provide an approximate cost for treatment if necessary. You can contact us for a free examination and get more details about expenses of treatments not covered under free dental treatment program.

Our Gentle Approach to Children’s Dentistry
We understand that a trip to the dentist can be intimidating for a child. Our team is specially trained to work with children and teenagers, using a gentle, reassuring approach.
We take the time to explain procedures in a way they can understand, building trust and helping them feel in control.
Our goal is to make every appointment a positive one, setting the stage for a lifetime of good dental habits and healthy smiles.
